This is the first half of a two-semester course in chemistry, intended for majors in the natural sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics, pre-medicine), Math, and engineering. The topics discussed in this course cover important concepts of Chemistry that include Nomenclature, Atomic Structure, Quantum Theory, Thermochemistry, Periodic Properties, Chemical Reactions, Stoichiometry, Gas Laws, Molecular Structure, Bonding, States of Matter, and Solutions. Additionally, the course may cover topics on Reaction Energies, Kinetics, Nuclear Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Moreover, the CHE 210 accompanies a sequence of laboratory activities intended to support the above topics including both qualitative and quantitative experiments, analysis of data and error propagation. (CHEM 110)
CHE 211 General Chemistry II

- Hours
- 162 hours total, 3 hours lecture weekly, 6 hours lab weekly
- Prerequisite
- CHE 210 and MAT 095 (or placement based on AB705 mandate)
- Transfers to
- CSU, UC
This is the second half of a one-year course sequence in chemistry intended for majors in the natural sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics, pre-medicine), Math, and engineering. The topics include a review of Solutions, Chemical Kinetics, Equilibrium, Acids and Bases, Thermodynamics (Entropy and Free Energy), Electrochemistry, Coordination Chemistry, Descriptive Chemistry and various other areas of chemistry. Appropriate laboratory experiments are included. The laboratory sequence will support the above topics including both qualitative and quantitative experiments, analysis of data and error propagation.
