Units: 23.0 units

The Certificate of Achievement in General Conservation introduces students to the field of public lands stewardship and provides them with the technical skills needed to be competitive when applying for entry–level positions with local employers, such as the US Forest Service and the Tahoe Resource Conservation District. These program objectives are met by placing an emphasis on the integration of existing coursework and technical field skills, which provide students with an academic foundation combined with practical experience. LTCC offers a comprehensive curriculum of classroom and laboratory-based courses, field courses, and work experience/internship opportunities, and this Certificate of Achievement can be readily completed in the course of one year through existing scheduled courses Fire Science, Wilderness Education and Outdoor Leadership, Environmental Science, and Work Experience. The program also exposes students to different types of problem-solving strategies and analytical tools. The program is designed to improve one’s chances of employability and job placement and provide additional skills training that may result in wage progression.
