Physics 2.0 - AS-T

A.S. Degree for Transfer Degrees and Certificates A-Z · College of the Siskiyous · 2026-2027 Catalog

Credits: 33.0 credits

A branch of the physical sciences, physics is the study of energy, space, matter, the interactions between matter, and the laws that govern these interactions. Physicists examine the fundamental laws of nature and seek to understand the principles that govern the behavior of objects—from subatomic particles to celestial bodies—and how these principles explain and predict natural phenomena. They use mathematics to formulate, explain, and test theories.  Physicists may apply these fundamental concepts to fields such as chemistry, biology, geophysics, engineering, communication, transportation, electronics, and health, or pursue a teaching credential to educate the next generation. The Associate in Science Degree in Physics 2.0 for Transfer will meet the needs of students transferring to a California State University and University of California who intend to study in a physics-related major. Other requirements include completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses, minimum overall grade point average of 2.0, minimum grade of “C” (or “P”) for each course in the major, and completion of Cal-GETC (California General Education Transfer Curriculum).
