Chicana/o Studies
Associate in Arts Ethnic Studies · Woodland Community College · 2026-2027 Catalog
Chicana/o Studies is the study of the diverse Chicano/Latino community in terms of their social, cultural, historical, political, educational, ecological, and health experiences and social movements. The goal is to develop academic, career, and leadership skills to improve the conditions of the Chicano/Latino community, support the cultural and educational projects within the community, and raise awareness and commitment to equity and social justice. The Chicana/o Studies Associate in Arts is designed to create a transfer pathway to the Chicana/Chicano Studies major at UC Davis, but this degree can also provide useful skills and knowledge to students who are interested in careers in education, social work, public service, community development, the arts, and natural resources. Most career options require more than two years of college study. Students who plan to transfer should consult with a counselor to ensure all transfer requirements are met outside of the major.
