Program description

This certificate is designed to provide students with the information and skills necessary to move toward a positive quality of life: meaningful employment, valued identity, social support, and purpose. Students will engage in self-inventories, social-emotional development, and practical applications necessary for employment, including money management and social connections. Students will explore strategies for decision-making, time management, and conflict resolution.

This certificate is approved through the California Community College Chancellor’s Office. Upon satisfactory completion of the listed requirements and filing an application for graduation with Admissions and Records, the student’s transcript will reflect the completion of this certificate.

Program learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this certificate, the student should be able to:

1. Identify occupational opportunities and initiate a job search.
2. Demonstrate competence in using computers and other technology in creating and sharing professional and personal documents.
3. Establish personal values and differentiate between personal values and professional guidelines.
4. Demonstrate competence in basic mathematical operations.
5. Navigate workplace issues that lead to improved workplace productivity and teamwork.
6. Self-assess individual attitudes, stress, and communication styles and apply strategies that promote positive change.
