This foundational training program helps students build essential skills in a variety of dance genres, including commercial dance, jazz, musical theater, and hip-hop. Additional training is offered in ballet, modern, performance repertory, and production. Training in these areas provides preparation for employment in commercial and entertainment industries, studio instruction, performance, and choreography. Upon completion of this certificate, along with the Foundation of Commercial Dance - Level 2 certificate, students are encouraged to continue their training at Santa Ana College’s Dance Program to obtain a more advanced certificate and/or degree.

Learning Outcome(s):

1. Perform foundational skills in dance techniques in the genres of ballet, commercial dance, jazz, modern, musical theatre, and Hip Hop.
2. Apply commercial dance terminology and practices, aligning with industry standards.
3. Identify the core principles of dance repertory and production, preparing students for performance and behind-the-scenes roles.
4. Prepare foundational dance skills and knowledge for advancement in the Foundations to Commercial Dance – Level II certificate.
