Description
Prepare students to begin their studies towards a healthcare career. Topics include HIPAA, professionalism/ethics, cultural awareness/infection control, and Medical Terminology. In addition, students will improve their English language and Math skills as they relate to healthcare and explore career options in the healthcare industry. Completion of this certificate provides the first step in making an informed decision regarding the selection of additional programs of study leading to academic and health care career goals.
The Certificate of Completion will only appear on documents issued directly by the Medical Assistant Department. The Certificate of Completion will not be noted on the transcript.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Gain a career insight into the various roles and responsibilities within the health care field
- Understand professional and ethical responsibility in health care
- Recognize the need for and an ability to engage in professional development in pursuit of life-long learning.
