Perinatal Nurse Job Skills Certificate

This program focuses on the specialty of perinatal nursing. After completion of the core maternal-child health nursing courses, this program provides an evidence-based and up-to-date curriculum on which to build a foundation for pre-licensure, new nurses, and experienced nurses moving into the specialty. Using the curriculum developed by the Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), the program provides the theoretical knowledge needed to provide care to women planning a family; in the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods; and newborns and the first few days of life. The laboratory component includes skills building, simulation, and in-hospital clinic experiences. Upon completion of the required courses with at least a "C" or "P" (pass) grade in each course, the student will be eligible for a Job Skills Certificate.
