Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate of Achievement

The Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate of Achievement signifies that the student has developed the knowledge and skills required for an entry level career in heavy equipment repair. Training in this field prepares students for employment as an equipment repair technician in industries such as, but not limited to: Agriculture, Industrial, Construction, Material Handling, and Mining. Students earning this certificate will have been prepared to earn additional individual stackable job skills certificates. Upon completion of the required courses with at least a "C" or "P" (pass) grade in each course, the student will be eligible for a Certificate of Achievement.

Program Learning Outcomes

• 1. At the conclusion of this program, the student should be able to demonstrate their ability to complete heavy equipment maintenance or repairs while emphasizing safe work practices.

• 2. At the conclusion of this program, the student should be able to apply diesel engine operation theory to diagnose failures in modern diesel engines and emissions systems.

• 3. At the conclusion of this program, the student should be able to investigate failures and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems associated with mobile equipment using manufacturers' technical service materials and schematics.

• 4. At the conclusion of this program, the student should be able to create technical service reports communicating diagnostic procedures and repairs to the supervisor or customer.
