ANDI 110 Non Destructive Inspection: Visual Inspection, Liquid Penetrant, and Magnetic Particle

Units
4
Hours
72 lecture hours, 72 contact hours total

Applies to the associate degree or certificates (AVC)

This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of nondestructive inspection (NDI) and nondestructive testing (NDT). Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a testing and analysis technique used by the aerospace industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component, and structure for characteristic differences or welding defects without causing damage to the aircraft structures. Inspection methods covered in this course are Visual Inspection, Dye Penetrant and Magnetic Particle inspection. Classroom lecture and hands-on practice with NDI testing equipment, processes, and procedures.

Offered: Spring 2027 (2 sections)

ANDI 115 Non Destructive Inspection: Eddy Current

Units

ANDI 210 Advanced Ultrasonic Composite Inspection

Units
3
Hours
54 lecture hours, 54 contact hours total
Prerequisite
Completion of ANDI 120.

Applies to the associate degree or certificates (AVC)

This advanced course provides an in-depth study of ultrasonic nondestructive testing (UT) with an emphasis on phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) principles, applications, and industry practices. Students will explore wave propagation theory, transducer design, beam steering, focusing techniques, and sectorial scanning, with a focus on practical implementation for flaw detection, sizing and characterization in complex geometries. Classroom lecture and hands-on practice with NDI testing equipment, processes, and procedures.
