"markdown": "The Associate in Science in Chemistry for Transfer is designed for students who wish to transfer into the California State University (CSU) system to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. The AS-T Degree in Chemistry will offer the knowledge and ability to be successful in the completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and may help prepare you for Bachelor’s Degrees in biochemistry and a variety of science or engineering related fields. This degree may not be the best option for students intending to transfer to a particular CSU campus or to a university or college that is not part of the CSU system. In all cases, students should check with a counselor for more information on university admission and transfer requirements.\n\nStudents who complete an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) will receive guaranteed admission with junior status to the California State University System and priority admission consideration to a major that is deemed similar to their community college transfer degree major. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific majors or campuses. Students transferring to a CSU campus that accepts the transfer degree will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor's degree in the same major. Students should consult a counselor for more information on specific university admission and transfer requirements.\n\nThe following are required for all AA-T or AS-T degrees:\n\n- Completion of 60 CSU transferable semester units\n- Obtainment of a minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU-transferable coursework\n- Completion, with a grade of “C” or better OR “P” (Pass), of each course used to satisfy major requirements AND the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC) requirements.\n\nStudents who complete this program should be able to:\n\n1. Recognize and implement chemical symbolism, notation, nomenclature and vocabulary.\n2. Perform chemistry calculations and demonstrate quantitative reasoning.\n3. Sort and apply chemical data and information; demonstrate deductive reasoning.\n4. Apply chemistry concepts; demonstrate inductive reasoning.\n5. Conduct chemistry laboratory operations and demonstrate manual skills."
