"markdown": "The Associate in Science in Biology for Transfer (AS-T) degree at Woodland Community College prepares students for transfer in biology and related majors in the CSU system. This degree is intended for students who wish to transfer to a California State University to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. The Biology AS-T will provide students with the preparation in general education and major specific courses to be prepared for Bachelor's level coursework. Students who earn a Bachelor's degree in biology are prepared for advanced degrees, or to enter employment opportunities as laboratory technicians, researchers, wildlife and fisheries biologists, field ecologists, ethnobiologists, botanists, entomologists, and others in field biology and ecology.\n\nStudents who complete an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) will receive priority admission with junior status to the California State University System and priority admission consideration to their local CSU campus or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific majors or campuses. Students should consult with a counselor for more information on specific university major admission and transfer requirements.\n\nThe following are required for all AA-T or AS-T degrees:\n\n- Minimum of 60 CSU transferable semester units\n- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU-transferable coursework\n- Satisfactory completion (C or better OR Pass*) of courses used to satisfy major requirements AND courses used to complete the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC) requirements\n\n*Some majors may not accept a Pass in place of a letter grade. Consult with a counselor before choosing the P/NP grading option.\n\n### Student Learning Outcomes\n\nUpon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:\n\n- Analyze data/information in addressing and evaluating problems and issues in making decisions.\n- Understand the purpose of scientific inquiry and the implications and applications of basic scientific principles.\n- Using examples, apply evolutionary theory to an understanding of the unity and diversity of life.\n- Using the Scientific Method, students will be able to correctly interpret experimental data and effectively communicate the findings and implications of that data in writing."
