With the completion of the AA-T in Anthropology, students will possess foundational knowledge and skill that comprise the core content of the first two years of many four-year programs in Anthropology. Students who complete an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) will receive priority admission with junior status to the California State University System and priority admission consideration to their local CSU campus or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific majors or campuses. Students should consult with a counselor for more information on specific university major admission and transfer requirements. The following are required for all AA-T or AS-T degrees: - Minimum of 60 CSU transferable semester units - Minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU-transferable coursework - Satisfactory completion (C or better OR Pass*) of courses used to satisfy major requirements AND courses used to complete the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC) requirements *Some majors may not accept a Pass in place of a letter grade. Consult with a counselor before choosing the P/NP grading option. ### Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: - Critically analyze and interpret anthropological data. - Identify and discuss major topics relevant to physical anthropology, cultural anthropology, and archaeology. - Identify and practice key aspects of anthropological research methodology. **Required Courses for Major** | Course | Title | Units | | --- | --- | --- | | **Required Core** | | 13 | | ANTH-C1001 | Introduction to Biological Anthropology | 3 | | ANTHR-2 | Cultural Anthropology | 3 | | ANTHR-3 | Introduction to Archaeology | 3 | | STAT-C1000 | Introduction to Statistics | 4 | | ***ANTHC1001L is also recommended for Anthropology majors.** | | | | **Social Science Electives (choose two)** | | 6 | | ETHN-1 | Introduction to Chicano Studies | 3 | | ETHN-2 | Introduction to Native American Studies | 3 | | ETHN-5 | Introduction to Chicana/o Culture | 3 | | ETHN-6 | History of Race and Ethnicity in America | 3 | | ETHN-15 | Mexican-American History | 3 | | ETHN-17 | African American Culture & Society | 3 | | ETHN-20 | Asian American Experience | 3 | | HIST-5A | World Civilizations I | 3 | | HIST-5B | World Civilizations II | 3 | | SOCI-C1000 | Introduction to Sociology | 3 | | SOCIL-5 | Sociology of Race and Ethnicity | 3 | | SOCIL-6 | Sociology of Sex and Gender | 3 | | SOCIL-8 | Social Science Research Methods | 3 | | SOCIL-10 | Sociology of Marriage and Family | 3 | | **Science Elective (choose one)** | | 4 | | BIOL-4 | Human Anatomy | 4 | | GEOL-8 | + GEOL8L Earth Science | 4 | | GEOL-10L | Physical Geology | 4 | | **Total units** | | **23** |
