The successful student will have developed the reading, writing, and research skills essential to historical inquiry and exposition. This program emphasizes the development of various societies through a chronological study of all aspects of history which includes intellectual, cultural, economic, political and social history. The Associate in Arts in History for Transfer Degree is designed to provide students with a common core of lower division courses required to transfer and pursue a baccalaureate (4-year) degree in History in the CSU system.\n\nThis degree is approved through the California Community College Chancellor’s Office. Upon satisfactory completion of all degree requirements and filing an application for graduation with Admissions and Records, the student’s transcript will reflect completion of this degree.\n\n### Program learning outcomes\n\nUpon successful completion of this degree, the student should be able to:\n\n1. Interpret primary and secondary historical sources and compose an argument which uses them, as appropriate, for support in a research paper.\n2. Explain and critically describe the major economic, social, political, and cultural developments of history.\n3. Assess the cultural legacies and contributions of each area under study to present times.\n4. Analyze the development and impact of political ideological trends.\n\nIn addition to the 34-unit general education pattern for Cal-GETC, students must complete the core courses listed below for the Associate in Arts in History for Transfer Degree. Students must also obtain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 and a C or better in each major course, or a “P\" if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis."
