      "markdown": "### Description\n\nSan José City College offers an English Proficiency Level High-Intermediate Certificate of Specialization. Students will acquire reading, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and oral skills that will prepare them for the advanced level of English as a Second Language courses. Completion of this certificate will highlight the students’ ability to communicate both orally and in writing at a high-intermediate level in academic, professional, and social environments.  \n   \nA grade of \"P\" is required in each course. Completed courses will appear on students' transcripts.  \n   \nThe Certificate of Specialization will only appear on documents issued directly by the English as a Second Language department. The English Proficiency Level High-Intermediate Certificate of Specialization will not appear on students’ transcripts."

      "markdown": "### Program Learning Outcomes\n\nUpon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:\n\n-   Demonstrate the ability to plan and compose expository essays of at least four paragraphs with high-intermediate proficiency.\n-   Demonstrate sentence variety and lexical and grammatical accuracy at a high-intermediate level.\n-   Demonstrate the use of effective strategies to acquire and retain vocabulary at the high-intermediate level.\n-   Identify main ideas and targeted content from listening segments and academic texts at a high-intermediate level of listening and reading proficiency.\n-   Use effective conversation and discussion techniques to exchange and expand on information and ideas at a high-intermediate level of speaking proficiency."
