      "markdown": "### Summary\n\nThe Associate of Arts degree with an area of emphasis in Social and Behavioral Sciences is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor’s degree at a transfer institution in a social science-related major. This degree is designed to accommodate the differing requirements of a wide variety of transfer institutions and major options. Because admission and major preparation requirements vary at each transfer institution, courses used to complete this degree should be selected with the assistance of a Miramar College counselor.\n\n**Award Note:**\nThe Associate Degree requires a minimum of 60 degree applicable semester units.\n\n**Learning Outcome(s): Students who complete the Social and Behavioral Sciences Program will be able to:**\n\n1.  Demonstrate knowledge of key historical facts, values, and ideas that have shaped civilizations throughout history.\n2.  Critically analyze primary and secondary sources in college-level essays, written assignments, and research papers.\n3.
