      "markdown": "### Summary\n\nThe Certificate of Performance in Starting and Managing a Small Business provides students with the skills and knowledge required to start and manage a small business of their own or as an employee of a start-up company.\n\nStudents who complete the certificate will be able to:\n\n-   Apply human resource management techniques, marketing for a small business, and knowledge of current legal issues to successfully own or operate a small business.\n-   Develop a business plan for a small business.\n-   Develop marketing strategies including product planning, development, pricing, distribution, and promotion necessary to operate a small business.\n\n**Award Notes:**\nA Certificate of Performance is a departmental award that does not appear on the student’s transcript. All courses must be completed within the San Diego Community College District.\nThis program is not eligible for federal financial aid in accordance with Federal regulations.\n\n**Learning Outcome(s): Students who complete the Starting and Managing a Small Business Program will be able to:**\n\n1.  Develop and apply appropriate communication skills across various business settings.\n2.  Analyze business scenarios to formulate and implement plans of action.\n3.  Leverage technology to manage and use information for decision making."
