It is designed to provide students with training in the theory and practice of computer programming emphasizing business and computer applications. Students receive hands-on experience in the fundamentals of structured programming and object-oriented analysis, design, and implementation of popular computer programming languages, such as Python, C++, and Java.\n\nThe Computer Information Systems Department requires students to complete all course requirements for the certificate within five years.\n\n**Learning Outcome(s): Students who complete the Computer Programming Program will be able to:**\n\n1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.\n2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.\n3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.\n4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice, taking into account legal, ethical, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility principles consistent with the mission of the institution.\n5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.\n6. Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats."
