The emphasis of the Certificate of Achievement in C++ is designed to provide students with training in the theory and practice of computer programming emphasizing business and computer applications using C++. Students receive hands-on experience in the fundamentals of structured- and object-oriented analysis, design, and implementation using the computer programming language C++.\n\nStudents who successfully complete the Certificate of Achievement in C++ will be able to:\n\n- Effectively design and implement programming constructs, including functions, control structures, arrays/lists, classes, and objects for a given programming problem; and\n- Effectively implement the appropriate data structures using the principles and techniques of object-oriented programming for a given programming problem.\n\nThe Computer Information Systems Department requires students to complete all course requirements for the certificate within five years.\n\n**Learning Outcome(s): Students who complete the C++ Program will be able to:**\n\n1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.\n2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.\n3. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.\n4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice, taking into account legal, ethical, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility principles consistent with the mission of the institution.\n5. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.\n6. Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats."
