"markdown": "## **School of Agriculture and Industrial Technology**\n\nThe Merced College Crop Science Program maintains 240 acres of cropland, which serve as a laboratory for Crop Science students. Equipment and methods used in the program are of the latest type and follow current trends and practices in crop-oriented production areas. Students take an active part in the farming operations by planning individual as well as group projects. The student not only gains the theoretical knowledge associated with production, but also experiences “hands-on” practical application. Students of the Merced College Agriculture Division are raising a wide variety of crops including alfalfa, wheat, barley, corn, oats, almonds, and pasture. The operation also includes the raising of onion seed stock crops.\n\nThe Associate of Science Degree in Crop Science Advanced is available upon satisfactory completion of the graduation requirements and complete the following required courses with a minimum grade of a “C” (or P) in each course in the degree and maintains a 2.0 GPA.\n\n## Program Student Learning Outcomes\n\nA. Demonstrate how to properly plant different varieties of plants and analyze soil conditions and types for testing.\n\nB. Demonstrate the ability to properly read and apply industry labeled instructions for chemical and fertilizer application.\n\nC. Provide written recommendations required by producers for production agriculture use.\n\nD. Appraise a hypothetical or actual problem dealing with plantings and soil conditions and the appropriate references to determine a solution to the problem.\n\n## Program Requirements:"
