# Fundamentals of Engineering III (Certificate of Achievement) Gavilan College · 2026-2027 Catalog · Department: Physical Science and Engineering Source: https://gavilan.curriqunet.com/catalog/iq/4089/4144/4356 The advanced Fundamentals of Engineering III Certificate of Achievement is designed to build on the intermediate Engineering II certificate. This advanced certificate is the last of three on the pathway towards earning an Associate Degree in Engineering and transfer to a UC or CSU to earn a bachelor's degree in engineering. The certificate continues to build on the essential math and science courses required by most engineering degrees across California (MATH 1C and PHYS 4B). In addition, students take an Engineering Elective Course (ENGR 1, ENGR 2, ENGR 3 or ENGR 4) that aligns with their transfer/career goals. Students can complete the advanced Fundamentals of Engineering III Certificate of Achievement on the 2nd Year of Enrollment and after its completion students would have the program specific coursework to transfer to the CSU or UC systems. Specifically, finishing the advanced Fundamentals of Engineering III Certificate of Achievement assures that students would have completed the program specific coursework needed to get accepted in the following impacted majors at SJSU: Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Aerospace Engineering. Please consult with a counselor to identify the adequate engineering course required for your transfer plan. **Learning Outcome(s):** 1. Analyze and interpret experimental results and/or data to make engineering problem decisions. 2. Use math, science, and engineering concepts to describe, formulate, and solve engineering problems. 3. Communicate the results of design and/or analysis orally and through text and graphics. Students will work effectively in teams. | Course | Title | Units | | --- | --- | --- | | MATH 1A | Single-Variable Calculus and Analytic Geometry | 4 | | CHEM 1A | General Chemistry | 5 | | ENGR 10 | Introduction to Engineering | 3 | | MATH 1B | Single-Variable Calculus and Analytic Geometry | 4 | | PHYS 4A | Physics for Scientists and Engineers I | 4 | | ENGR 5 | Engineering Programming and Problem Solving | 3 | | or CSIS 45 | C++ Programming I | 3 | | MATH 1C | Multivariable Calculus | 4 | | PHYS 4C | Physics for Scientists and Engineers III | 4 | | ENGR 1 | Graphical Communication and Design | 3 | | ENGR 2 | Statics | 3 | | ENGR 3 | Electric Circuit Analysis | 4 | | ENGR 4 | Properties Of Materials | 3 | | **Total** | | **** |
