"markdown": "Engineers design and create the future. They use the principles of math, science, and engineering to design and build new products or to develop large-scale systems, such as transportation systems or a water treatment plant. Engineering problems usually involve teams of people, so engineers must work well with others and communicate effectively.\n\nThe Fundamentals of Engineering I Certificate of Achievement is designed to give students an introduction to the field of engineering by applying theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economic solutions to practical technical problems. This is the first of three stackable certificates in engineering that prepare students for an Associate Degree in Engineering and transfer to a UC or CSU to earn a bachelor's degree in engineering. By completing the Fundamentals of Engineering I Certificate of Achievement, students will have the required math and science engineering foundations and students will also possess the knowledge and insights needed to create their engineering roadmap to transfer.\n\n**Learning Outcome(s):**\n\n1. Acquire, develop, and refine the prerequisite mathematics and science foundational skills to be successful in sophomore level engineering courses such as Statics, Circuit Analysis, or Materials Science and Engineering.\n2. Formulate and present a plan to appropriately select the courses they will need to transfer to a four‐year university."
