"markdown": "**Humanities Division**\nwww.elcamino.edu/academics/humanities\n\nBy completing the degree requirements, the student will acquire proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding French and will gain knowledge of French and Francophone cultures. The student will be able to communicate in French, write formal compositions, and read the texts of French and Francophone authors, all at the intermediate-mid level of competency. Competencies will be assessed throughout the language sequence with written and oral exams. This major provides career opportunities where knowledge of French is useful and prepares students for continued advanced learning of French.\n\nThe student who has completed two or more years of French in high school will have the opportunity to enroll with advanced standing and to complete semesters 5 and/or 6 at El Camino College. It is recommended that language majors enroll in conversation classes.\n\nAt least 50 percent of the courses required for the French major must be completed at El Camino College. French 4 must be completed at El Camino College.\n\n### Required Core: 5 units"
