"markdown": "By completing the program requirements, students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge in film/video production, scriptwriting, and media aesthetics. The curriculum prepares students for either entry-level employment in the entertainment and telecommunications industries or for transfer to a four-year degree program. Upon completion of the required courses, students will be able to write, shoot, and edit short films or videos and demonstrate basic skills necessary for operating various film, video, and digital production equipment. Degree competencies will be assessed regularly by evaluating student performance in producing individual and group projects. Students will be prepared to transfer to a CSU and major in Radio, Television, Film, Video, Film and Cinematic Arts. The Associate in Science in Film, Television, and Electronic Media for Transfer (AS-T) is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor's degree in film or similar major at a CSU campus. Students completing the AS-T are given priority consideration for admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. In order to earn an AS-T degree, students must complete:\n\n1) Completion of 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University.\n\n2) The California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC) requirements.\n\n3) A minimum of 21 units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.\n\n4) Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0.\n\n5) A grade of \"C\" or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis.\n\nStudents who have completed the AS-T will have a strong academic foundation in the field and will be prepared for upper division baccalaureate study at the university. The coursework will satisfy most of the lower-division requirements at many institutions within the California State University system. Students transferring to a UC, private, or out-of-state university should consult with an El Camino College counselor when planning to complete the degree since transfer requirements may be slightly different than those required for the AS-T.\n\n### Required Core: 9 units"
