The course covers direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) circuits containing resistors, capacitors, inductors, dependent sources, operational amplifiers, and/or switches. The analysis of these circuits includes natural and forced responses of first and second order resistor-inductor-capacitor (RLC) circuits, the use of phasors, AC power calculations, power transfer, and energy concepts. ### ENGR 12 — Circuit Analysis Laboratory - **Units:** 1 - **Hours:** 3 hours lab - **Prerequisite:** PHYS 1C (or concurrent enrollment) and MATH 270 (or concurrent enrollment) - **Corequisite:** ENGR 11 - **Transfers to:** CSU, UC - **Offered:** Fall 2026, 1 section listed as ENGR-12 (/c/el-camino-college/schedule/fall-2026/engr.md); Spring 2027, 1 section listed as ENGR-12 (/c/el-camino-college/schedule/spring-2027/engr.md) - Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable This course serves as an introduction to the construction, measurement, and design of elementary electrical circuits and basic operational amplifier circuits. Students gain familiarity with the basic use of electrical test and measurement instruments, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and function generators. Using principles of circuits analysis for direct current (DC), transient, and sinusoidal steady-state alternating current (AC) conditions, students develop data interpretation skills by using circuit simulations software and by direct measurements of circuits. Practical considerations such as component value tolerance and non-ideal aspects of laboratory instruments are also introduced. ### ENGR 15 — Engineering Graphics - **Units:** 3 - **Hours:** 2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab - **Prerequisite:** Math 170 with a minimum grade of C - **Transfers to:** CSU, UC - **Offered:** not on the Fall 2026, Winter 2027, Spring 2027 schedules - Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable This course covers the principles of engineering drawings in visually communicating engineering designs and an introduction to computer-aided design (CAD). Topics include the development of visualization skills; orthographic projections; mechanical dimensioning and tolerancing practices; and the engineering design process. Assignments develop sketching and 2-D and 3-D CAD skills. The use of CAD software is an integral part of the course. ### ENGR 24 — Strength of Materials - **Units:** 3 - **Hours:** 3 hours lecture - **Prerequisite:** Engineering 9 with a minimum grade of C - **Transfers to:** CSU - **Offered:** Spring 2027, 1 section listed as ENGR-24 (/c/el-camino-college/schedule/spring-2027/engr.md) - Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable This course is a study of stresses, strains and deformations associated with axial, torsional and flexural loading of bars, shafts and beams, as well as pressure loading of thin-walled pressure vessels. The course also covers stress and strain transformation, Mohr's Circle, ductile and brittle failure theories, and the buckling of columns. Statically indeterminate systems are also studied.
