Foundation courses such as Art History, Painting, Ceramics, Drawing and Photography rely heavily on a historical component, which not only fulfills much of the general education transfer requirements in humanities, but will also allow students to critically examine, appreciate, and relate their own artwork to a historical perspective. Studio classes in Art provide students the opportunity to use the latest technology, facilities and equipment. A degree in Art can provide a variety of career opportunities and vocations in art such as photographer, fine artist, digital artist, art educator, and graphic designer. Students should consult with a counselor to determine whether this degree is the best option for their academic goals. ### Program Requirements | Course | Title | Units | | --- | --- | --- | | **Art-AA** | | 21 | | **Complete the Art Major Requirements.** | | | | **Complete the College of the Siskiyous General Education Requirements.** | | | | **Any needed electives to reach a total of 60 COS degree-applicable units.** | | | | **All major courses and any courses a C or better.** | | | | **As part of the GE classes required for completion of the degree, students should plan to take English C1000 and complete the Math competency requirement their first year.** | | | | **Complete the following** | | 12 | | ART 1002 | 2-D Foundations | 3 | | ART 1009 | Introduction to Drawing | 3 | | ARTH C1100 | Survey of Art from Prehistory to the Medieval Era | 3 | | ARTH C1200 | Survey of Art from the Renaissance to Contemporary | 3 | | **Complete three of the following** | | 9 | | ART 1003 | 3-D Foundations | 3 | | ART 1004 | Introduction to Painting | 3 | | ART 1006 | Introduction to Ceramics | 3 | | ART 1010 | Sculpture | 3 | | ART 1011 | Introduction to Photography | 3 | | ART 1013 | Printmaking | 3 | | ART 1031 | Digital Illustration | 3 | | ART 1032 | Digital Imaging | 3 | | ART 1509 | Intermediate Drawing | 3 | ### Recommended Sequence #### Art-AA **Term 1** (6 units) - ARTHC1100 - Survey of Art from Prehistory to the Medieval Era (3) - ART1009 - Introduction to Drawing (3) **Term 2** (6 units) - ARTHC1200 - Survey of Art from the Renaissance to Contemporary (3) - ART1003 - 3-D Foundations (3) - ART1004 - Introduction to Painting (3) - ART1006 - Introduction to Ceramics (3) - ART1010 - Sculpture (3) - ART1011 - Introduction to Photography (3) - ART1013 - Printmaking (3) - ART1031 - Digital Illustration (3) - ART1032 - Digital Imaging (3) - ART1509 - Intermediate Drawing (3) **Term 3** (6 units) - ART1002 - 2-D Foundations (3) - ART1004 - Introduction to Painting (3) - ART1010 - Sculpture (3) - ART1013 - Printmaking (3) - ART1509 - Intermediate Drawing (3) **Term 4** (3 units) - ART1003 - 3-D Foundations (3) - ART1004 - Introduction to Painting (3) - ART1006 - Introduction to Ceramics (3) - ART1010 - Sculpture (3) - ART1011 - Introduction to Photography (3) - ART1013 - Printmaking (3) - ART1031 - Digital Illustration (3) - ART1032 - Digital Imaging (3) - ART1509 - Intermediate Drawing (3) ### Program Outcomes #### Art-AA
