Students earning the certificate may also choose to continue their study toward an associate or baccalaureate degree in the field.\n\nPast recipients of the COD (College of the Desert) Certificate of Achievement in Fire Technology have obtained positions as firefighter, firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and paramedic. This program follows the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) model from the National Fire Academy.\n\nThis program prepares individuals for an entry-level career in the fire service by providing a foundation of core concepts, practices, vocabulary, culture, safety and requirements for the fire service.
