This certificate will help prepare the student to be successful in college level English courses and prepare them to pass the General Education Development (GED) test. The certificate also fulfills the English requirements for the high school diploma.

### Learning Outcomes

#### Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:

1.  Summarize written texts with ability to differentiate fact from opinion.
2.  Illustrate self-expression and original thinking through writing.
3.  Recognize writing as a process (brainstorming, organizing, drafting) and revise and edit original work based on self-evaluation and peer review.
4.  Assess relevant information and come to thought-out conclusions and solutions.
5.  Recognize Plagiarism in any shape or form and be mindful of its consequences.
6.  Type structured texts in a variety of written forms according to purpose and audience.
7.  Compose and present structured texts in a variety of oral and written forms according to purpose, audience, and occasion with implementation of thesis, supporting details and idea development.
8.  Locate questions and problems as a result of conversation, reading, and lectures.
9.  Assess relevant information and come to thought-out conclusions and solutions.
