# Mechanical Engineering Technology (A.S. Degree) Bakersfield College · 2026-2027 Catalog · Department: STEM Source: https://bakersfield.elumenapp.com/catalog/2026-2027-Catalog/program/mechanical-engineering-technology-associate-of-science-fall-2025 #### Mechanical Engineering Technology Associate of Science Students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Associate of Science (AS) program develop knowledge in engineering fundamentals and hands-on skills in machine tool processes, basic electronics, and computer aided design (AutoCAD or Solidworks). The California State University campuses with transfer opportunities include Los Angeles, San Jose, Pomona, and Chico. Additional transfer opportunities to mechanical engineering technology programs at universities outside California are available via the Western Undergraduate Exchange. Students interested in transferring should contact a counselor or educational advisor. Upon completion of graduation requirements and the required degree courses with at least a "C" or "P" (pass) grade in each course, the student will be eligible for an Associate of Science degree. ### Program Learning Outcomes - 1\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve well-defined mechanical engineering problems appropriate to the discipline. - 2\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to to design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the engineering design of systems, components, or processes appropriate to mechanical engineering technology.. - 3\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in well-defined technical and non-technical environments in mechanical engineering technology. - 4\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments to analyze and interpret the results to improve manufacturing processes. - 5\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to function effectively as a member of a mechanical engineering team. ### Program Requirements | Course | Title | Units | | --- | --- | --- | | **Mechanical Engineering Technology Associate of Science: Complete all of the following** | | 37-39 | | **Core Courses: Complete all of the following** | | 27 | | ELET B1A | Basic Electronics (DC) | 3 | | ELET B1B | Electronic Circuits (AC and Analog) | 3 | | ENGR B47 | Introduction to Engineering and Design | 2 | | MATH B6A | Analytic Geometry/Calculus I | 4 | | MFGT B1AB | Machine Tool Processes | 3 | | PHYS B2A | General Physics-Mechanics and Heat | 4 | | PHYS B2B | General Physics - Sound, Light, Electricity, Magnetism, Modern Physics | 4 | | WELD B1A | Oxygen-Acetylene Welding and Cutting | 2 | | WELD B1B | Introduction to the Welding Processes | 2 | | **List A** | | 3 | | ENGR B24 | Engineering Graphics with Solidworks | 3 | | ENGR B25 | Engineering Graphics with AutoCAD (for CE/CET/EE) | 3 | | INDR B12 | Introduction to Drafting and CAD | 3 | | **List B** | | 4-5 | | CHEM B2A | Introductory General Chemistry | 4 | | CHEM B1A | General Chemistry I | 5 | | **List C** | | 3-4 | | ENGR B19C | C++ Programming for Engineers & Scientists | 4 | | ENGR B20 | MATLAB Programming for Engineers & Scientists | 3 |
