      "markdown": "#### English for Multilingual Students Writing Certificate of Competency\n\nThis is a Certificate of Competency awarded to students who have completed more than 144 hours of EMLS writing coursework. To Achieve the Certificate of Competency: Upon completion of the required courses with a grade of “P” for passing, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Competency.\n\n### Program Learning Outcomes\n\n-   1\\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to write expository essays that successfully synthesize outside sources and use a range of academic vocabulary as well as sentences of varying structure and type.\n\n-   2\\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills by analyzing a wide range of personal, professional, academic and literary non-adapted/authentic texts, including online sources, written for native English speakers.\n\n-   3\\. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to apply critical thinking skills and global awareness by analyzing information relevant to global events.\n\n### Program Requirements"
