#### English for Multilingual Students Introduction Certificate of Competency

This is a Certificate of Competency awarded to students who have completed more than 96 hours of basic EMLS reading, writing, and listening/speaking coursework. To Achieve the Certificate of Competency: Upon completion of the required courses with a grade of “P” for passing, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Competency.

### Program Learning Outcomes

-   1\. Upon completion the student will be able to respond to a given topic to write one or more well-organized paragraphs using a topic sentence, relevant details, and a concluding sentence.

-   2\. Upon completion the student will be able to analyze the relationship among ideas in adapted reading passages.

-   3\. Upon completion the student will be able to participate in individual and group oral presentations, class discussions, and social discourse.
