This noncredit certificate program is designed to both prepare students for and administer the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) practical welding exam aligned with the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code. The two-course sequence includes: Weld 900: An intensive preparation and orientation session that includes hands-on welding practice, safety training, exam paperwork, and proof of payment. Weld 901: The official testing day during which students complete the LADBS practical exam. Students will train and test in either Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), with certification granted in a single process per testing cycle. This short-term program is ideal for individuals seeking industry-recognized structural welding certification for employment or career advancement. A Welding Performance Exam fee of $120 covers one 3G and one 4G initial attempt, retakes procedures follow AWS requirements. A new fee is applied for each Weld 901 class taken. Retakes must be completed within the same class period to qualify.
