# Physics 2.0 (A.S.-T Degree) Antelope Valley College · 2026-2027 Catalog · Department: Physics Source: https://avc.elumenapp.com/catalog/2026-27/program/physics-2-0-as-t-fall-2026 The Associate in Science in Physics 2.0 for Transfer (AS-T in Physics 2.0) offers students a fundamental knowledge of Physics and its relation to science, technology, and engineering. Students will enhance their problem-solving and critical thinking skills by applying mathematical models to real-world problems or utilizing mathematical objects and theorems to evaluate the validity of a statement or to prove mathematical statements. The Associate in Science in Physics 2.0 for Transfer (AS-T) meets the requirements of SB 1440 for Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT). These degrees are intended to make it easier for students to transfer to a California State University campus. Specifically, if a student completes an "associate degree for transfer": To earn an Associate in Science in Physics 2.0 for Transfer (AS-T in Physics 2.0) degree, a student must complete the following: - Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses - A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district - Completion of the Cal-GETC pattern - Students must earn a C or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis. A “P” (Pass) grade is an acceptable grade for courses in the major. - Minimum overall grade point average of 2.0 ### Program Requirements | Course | Title | Units | | --- | --- | --- | | **Physics AS-T 2.0: Complete all of the following** | | 37 | | **Core Courses: Complete all of the following** | | 29 | | PHYS 110 | General Physics | 4 | | PHYS 120 | General Physics | 4 | | PHYS 211 | General Physics | 5 | | MATH 160 | Calculus and Analytic Geometry | 4 | | MATH 220 | Linear Algebra | 4 | | MATH 230 | Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations | 4 | | MATH 250 | Calculus and Analytic Geometry | 4 | | **MATH 150** | | 5 | | MATH 150 | Calculus and Analytic Geometry | 5 | | MATH 150H | Calculus & Analytic Geometry Honors | 5 | | **Computer Science** | | 3 | | CS 120 | Programming and Algorithms in C++ | 3 | | CS 122 | Programming and Algorithms in Python | 3 | ### Recommended Pathway #### Physics 2.0 AS-T **Summer 1** (3 units) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 3B (3) **Semester 1** (15 units) - MATH150 - Calculus and Analytic Geometry (5) - MATH150H - Calculus & Analytic Geometry Honors (5) - ENGLC1000 - Academic Reading and Writing (4) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 3A (3) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 4 (3) **Semester 2** (14 units) - MATH160 - Calculus and Analytic Geometry (4) - PHYS110 - General Physics (4) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 1B (3) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 1C (3) **Summer 2** (3 units) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 4 (3) **Semester 3** (15 units) - PHYS120 - General Physics (4) - MATH220 - Linear Algebra (4) - MATH250 - Calculus and Analytic Geometry (4) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 6 (3) **Semester 4** (15 units) - PHYS211 - General Physics (5) - MATH230 - Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations (4) - CS120 - Programming and Algorithms in C++ (3) - CS122 - Programming and Algorithms in Python (3) - Any Cal-GETC GE Area 5B (3) ### Program Outcomes ### Physics 2.0 AS-T
