"markdown": "The Associate in Arts in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies for Transfer (AA-T in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies) degree provides students with interdisciplinary research methods, theories, and concepts to critically examine the experiences, communities, and histories of Mexican Americans and U.S. Latinas, Latinos, and Latine populations. The AA-T in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies at Antelope Valley College equips students with the analytical, critical thinking, and creative skills necessary to explore the lives and experiences of Mexican Americans and Latinas/os throughout the country. This program enhances students’ abilities to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, preparing them for careers in a multi-ethnic workforce and empowering them to work toward social justice. Graduates of this program will be well-prepared for roles in non-profit organizations, education, social work, human services, health care, law and policy, as well as planning and development. The Associate in Arts in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies for Transfer (AA-T in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies) degree meets the requirements of Senate Bill 1440 for Associate in Arts Degrees for Transfer (AA-T). These degrees are intended to make it easier for students to transfer to a California State University (CSU) to complete their undergraduate degree in the designated discipline. Specifically, a student who completes an AA-T degree will be guaranteed admission to a CSU with junior status. However, CSU admission does not guarantee admission to a specific major or to a specific campus. The CSU shall grant such a student priority admission to a local CSU campus and into a program or major that is similar to the one the student obtains his or her AA-T degree in, or to an area of emphasis determined by the CSU campus. Although the AA-T degree is specifically designed to ease transfer to a CSU, it does not exclude admittance to other colleges or universities. Additionally, this degree provides a strong foundation for further undergraduate study in Chicano Studies or related fields, ensuring students are equipped for continued academic success or professional growth. To earn the Associate in Arts in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies for Transfer (AA-T in Chicana/o Studies, Latina/o Studies) degree a student must complete the following:     •    Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses     •    A minimum of 18-semester units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district     •    Completion of the Cal-GETC pattern     •    Minimum grade of “C” (or “P”) for each course in the major     •    Minimum overall grade point average of 2.0\n\n### Program Requirements"
